Welcome to the CSD high school art room!  This is a year long elective, designed to give students experience with a variety of different processes and materials.  The curriculum will include experiences with both 2D and 3D medium.  The year is designed to dig deep into the elements and principals of art with projects that highlight the eight Core Commonalities of the Basic School philosophy.

Projects will be graded with the following in mind:

            Diagnostic – Class discussion, checking for knowledge and participation. 

Formative – work in sketchbooks, written and drawn planning for each project.

Summative – self-evaluation, teacher feedback, project rubric, class critique 

Class Expectations:

• Come to class prepared and on time.
• During class discussions the speaker has the floor. Students should not talk when someone else is speaking.
• Respect- Please treat others’ beliefs, property, and persons with respect.
• State comments about other artist’s work in a positive manner, making suggestions with respect, and acknowledging individual styles.
