Objectives:
To
explore choreographic principals, structure, process and available
technology (camera, computer, projector, etc) to create dances that
communicate ideas, experiences, feelings, and/or images
To
analyze the psychological, emotional, and unconscious impact of
movement selection, choreographic processes, and production design
choices on viewers of dance in social media
This
class is project based class that explores the use of technology in
dance performance and dance in social media. While viewing and
analyzing current works such as LXD Dance Crew, Television
commercials, Shadow Dances etc, students will create unique,
meaningful, artistic expressions using technology such as lighted
costumes, projected images on dancers, digital cameras and computers,
and flash lights.
Time and Location:
Class
meets in the auxiliary gym during 4th period (usually 11:00-11:50)
Materials Needed:
Dancers
will need an all-white outfit that is easy to move in and covers as
much skin as possible
If
a dancer has a digital camera or computer with a camera that can
make video, s/he should bring that to class on designated days. If
not, there will be a camera available to use on those days.
