30% Music Concepts
50% Classwork/Community
Singing Tests – Every two weeks, each student will perform an assigned selection of music from the material taught in class.
Music Concepts – Students will learn music appreciation, theory and history to enhance their knowledge of music. Once a month, students will have a quiz to measure their ability to answer questions about music concepts material.
Classwork/Community – Students are expected to arrive at class each day prepared, with their own instruments and the music provided in class. The student’s grade will be based not only on their ability to perform the music provided, but also on their disposition to help others in class: by being respectful to other student’s playing ability; by contributing with self-discipline during class; by being attentive to the teacher/conductor indications, and by their willingness to contribute to the community in the school and abroad.
NOTE:
Concert Attendance – Due to the limited number of performances throughout the school year and the importance of every student's participation in the music ensembles, attendance at all concerts is expected. The only excused absences from a performance are personal illness or family emergency. Students must provide a written note from their parent/guardian explaining the circumstances.
